Exe mead is set beside the meandering river Exe, nestled in the quaint moorland village of Exford at the heart of the Exmoor National Park.
Ideal for mountain biking, horse riding, walking & a host of other outdoor activities - perfect for school trips and field & research visits.
Formally a Victorian hunting lodge, the property was aquired by the YHA in 1964 when the addition of a traditional 'Devon Lady' allowed for the accommodation to be extended.
We now have 49 bed spaces, across all accommodation types we offer ensuite rooms (sleeping 4, 5 or 6 people) as well as dorm and private rooms making our hostel perfect for individuals, couples, families and groups. We can cater for parties & school groups requiring exclusive use.
The facilities at Exe mead include en-suite bathrooms, a fully equipped self-catering kitchen, dining room, lounge, conference & classroom provision, secure bike storage, drying room and ample parking.
Outdoors, a tranquil wooded garden surrounded on three sides by the gently flowing river Exe. Ideal for camping under the stars. Exmoor is one of England's Dark Skies Reserves. We have provision for 8 pitches offering all the fun of camping whilst enjoying the facilities of the hostel- hot showers, a cosy lounge and a convenient self catering kitchen.
Our central location in the heart of the Exmoor National Park offers a unique opportunity for walking, cycling & horse riding literally from the doorstep, the perfect base for days and days of exploring the rolling coombes & open moorland which are a distinctive feature or Exmoor. We boast close proximity to the South West Coastal Path, the Coleridge Way & the Doone Valley.
